I am a sociologist and ethnographer who studies international migration. Currently I am a Marie Curie Research Fellow at the University of Wolverhampton in the UK, working on the BRAD research project. My current study stems from my previous research about the US deportation regime targeting Mexican citizens and about the Polish post-accession migration to the UK and the cultural change occurring as a result of it. I have co-authored two books and work on another one! Find out more.
My current research project “Brexit and Deportations: Towards a comprehensive and transnational understanding of a new system targeting EU citizens” (acronym BRAD) examines the inception of UK’s new migration and deportation regime. I am analysing: (1) immigration policies, (2) agencies that enforce them, (3) media debate, (4) the lived experience of migrants, (5) return migrants and stayers back in sending countries, and (6) subjectivities of all the social groups involved.
