I am a sociologist and ethnographer who studies international migration. I am an Assistant Professor at the University of Warsaw in Poland, working on the UK2deport research project. I currently research deportations of EU citizens from the United Kingdom. Previously I researched deportations of Mexican citizens from the US from the perspective of critical phenomenology of ‘illegality’. I have been MSCA and Kosciuszko Foundation Fellow. Apart from research, I coordinate international cooperation at the Centre of Migration Research, University of Warsaw. Find out more about me.

My current research project UK2deport examines the inception of UK’s post-Brexit migration and deportation regime. I am analysing: immigration policies, agencies that enforce them, and the lived experience of the people affected by immigration enforcement. UK2deport analyses various forms of return from the UK – from deportations and administrative removals to international reconnections and voluntary returns organised by local councils. Find out more.
